Updated: May 5, 2021

One question that designers have asked for years is “How do I choose the right artwork for my home? There are a few rules to make sure you choose the right piece of artwork for every specific space of your home area. Artwork, painting, and sculptures are what people see in the homeowner's personality and how he uses his room. It creates character and makes the person more interesting, more approachable, and intellectually capable. The great thing about art is that it’s an investment that is portable. You can practically take it anywhere and it is a worthy investment to pursue as artworks like these virtually gain value over time. It’s also affordable depending on what are artworks that your spending. It can either be exorbitantly expensive or at an affordable price.

BATHROOM

The bathroom is often an overlooked area that needs an artistic aura surrounding it. The artwork chosen for the bathroom should blend in well with the colours and setting of the environment. An example we can think of is that if it’s a powder room on the main level, sticking with fun and bright colour artwork seems to be a great choice. On the other hand, if it’s a master bathroom, picking artwork that is more calming and serene seems like a better choice. Picking artwork for the bathroom can be complicated, but an opinion we can suggest is choosing sets of paintings stacked side-by-side is a wonder to look at. It can be abstract art pieces with one being on the upside and the other on the downside which could look dazzling with your theme.

BEDROOM

The bedroom is a refuge, where you can relax and not think about how bad the day has been today. Artwork can bring the mood up or down and reflect what artwork is presently inside your bedroom. Larger paintings are probably best and should be hung at eye level. Find any abstract pieces that have a theme of desaturated colours or wide-scale landscapes that will look best. Keep the frames minimal so that it focuses on the art piece itself instead of the frame.

OFFICE

Either your working at home or in the office, the artwork is a great way to personalize your everyday space and keep you inspired. A favourite way of ours is to create a rotating gallery. A tutorial we can suggest is getting a long floating ledge shelf installed at your workspace or close to it. The allure you get from this is that it’s the only thing you will get to hang on the wall! Hang on, and this is where it gets exciting as you pick out a range of artworks that inspire you. Think about the renowned works of artist such as Van Gogh and every other renowned artists out there. Hanging any replicated artwork in your office ads sophistication and character to the person who owns it. Incorporating different sizes from big to small, the possibilities are endless.

LIVING ROOM

The room that benefits the most with artwork is the living room. This is the room that you should take with the highest priority as guests and your families will spend time in this room the most. Choosing the right art pieces invokes different emotion, either be it internal or external. Each artwork will always be a topic of a question when guests or family arrives, as a painting that is a mystery will always intrigue the guests. Opting for a large-scale piece is optimal. It doesn’t have to be a print or canvas; sometimes, other forms can be made. Look beyond 2D images as they are plenty of artwork to choose from.

KITCHEN

Finally, the most forgotten rooms we think that needs artworks are the kitchen. A homeowner’s kitchen is often referred to as the “heart of every house owner”. There is undeniably no questions needed to be asked. Art needs to be placed here in some way. Spaces above cabinets or countertops are the perfect place to put for these amazing artworks. To keep it looking as picturesque as possible, best to lean towards smaller pieces that compliment the kitchen’s colour. Go for either funny or social artworks that make every family member smile in the morning and make that day easier to go by.
